#1 Watford valves gz37

Post by Toppsy »

Has anyone any experience of these tubes from Watford valves?
Are they value for money? Unless someone on the forum has a couple spare they can offer me for a reasonable price?

I am thinking of using a couple of these in my 6em7 amp build.

Cheers

A couple?!

Yikes do you want to melt the 6EM7s? If you really wanted to use a couple of fullwave rectifiers try 6X4 league for such as 6EM7.

As for those GZ37s, if they are mullards they will be excellent. I have a couple with cobwebs and dust of ages... 'spose you could twist my arm but you don't need such ostentatious power for weedy little 1 watters

I agree with Andrew, that you would only need one, two would be overkill.

But you would need to use two 6x4's as they are only good for 70ma or so, and the heater voltage would be wrong for the TX you have.

One gz37 should be fine with the choke input supply we had in mind. Of course having a spare is always a good idea.

Ooops! Don't want meltdown

Nick, it's just me misreading your design schematic for the power supply. So yes I only need the one. Thanks guys for putting me right, numpty that I am!

Andrew,
i will take you up on your offer, just one valve please. I'll PM you.

Cheers
