Whenever an honest man discovers that he's mistaken, he will either cease to be mistaken or he will cease to be honest.

The first one looks interesting, but at 32.5A filament that would be pushing my supply.
It's low voltage so it may cope though. But I wouldn't want to subject it to the test.

Hi Darren
worse for your supply than high voltage as the transistors will have a lot of work to do to keep it down to 6.3v: POOF!

Oh yeah, I was looking at it the wrong way around, not that I would have tried them but thanks anyway all the same for the tip off.
They get hot enough at 10V 10A. So they would in fact get even hotter.

I would guess the px4 's are not much like the originals
I'm sure they will sound nice, as do the modern 300b's..
the anode looks a little shorter than the originals.. and nothing like the same quality...

Funnily enough Steve I find the Chinease dht's quite acceptable these days. Even the real cheap 300bs he sells look worthwhile, most of the time they would do and one could drop mesh plates in on occasions.
My TJ meshpalte 300bs, the filaments of which I provided with 20 volts for about 30 seconds, though now smoked glass flavour are still working and making good sounds. Maybe a new one would make better sounds, maybe they won't have much life left in them? but they have certainly proved a certain resiliance.
In the past I have never seen the other than original px4's or px25's as anything to consider with their wrong basing and completely different characteristics. Perhaps at last they have come to realise they will never sell them at a high price for something they are not. Now ther are a consideration, I would prefer however if they renamed them.

I guess you could start with a mig welding rig for the ps. On the other hand it could be a chinese leaflet and the 3 might be there by mistake.Darren wrote:The first one looks interesting, but at 32.5A filament that would be pushing my supply.

There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be

Hey, no lightweights here mate !!!
I would think the amperage is correct looking at the other specs.

Doh ..but I think I've got my foot firmly in both camps now.....I did start out as a good boy but I've been seduced by the dark side, just like lucifer...Darren wrote:Hey, no lightweights here mate !!!
On topic...that would mean 200 watt heaters.....is that for real??
edit: ignore the last sentence I've just read Will's link....wow
