Yes, but didn't Paul bring a 211 in the box of a chineese amp, when you brought your OTLs Andrew?

I could always fetch it along to the Yorkshire meet if people are interested in hearing 845s, but I would need someone to carry it for me ..... I'm not very big and it is a heavy amp!!

Yes Nick, Paul put it on immediately after my 300Bs and before Andrew's OTL. So what fate did befall the OTL Andrew? I thought it sounded rather good - is it gathering dust on a shelf?

Yeah Samantha, the more the merrier. :) No guarantee you won't get sucked into our shady little world though. You might not think it, but you'll be asking which soldering iron to buy before long.

Ouch - that's not good.

As for drawing me in .... I have started giving thought as to how to build a valve phono stage

Samantha,

Word of advice, don't listen to them, it's a slippery slope once you realise the benefits of rolling your own !!!

Should carry the obligatory health warning !!

room sounded horrible and we were using judo mats to damp the walls. A mat or two fell on the amp.

that S8 amp has the same valve line up as a UR simply 845 amp i owned once..

hope it sounds better than mine did..
when i built a px4 amp it made that 845 sound like the tv in comparison

paul keeps telling me it had crap output valves in it...

better valves generally sweeten the sound and give a bit more detail..

what make valves are they for £14..

i have a few makes of 82's & 83's you could borrow to try out before you jump in ...

Well obviously I like it and that is what counts.

I have some valves on the way, fingers crossed - at the moment no music as someone advised that they could go pop and if they do, could cause harm so better not to risk.
