Just checked voltages and all are as expected and exactly the same on both channels. It's stopped rustling now too. It may start again any time though. It has to be the actual valve doesn't it, if it follows the valve? There is nothing else in the circuit it could be is there? I just put it down to a worn/dodgy 2A3.

Cheers
Seems likely. But it could still be the resistors creating the rustle. If the faulty valve passed excessive current now and then, it could cause the resistors to overheat. Unlikely though.

If I remember correctly there are some hard working resistors in that LW circuit.

oops I've just posted to the other place mentioning hard workiing resistors. They won't get the reference, but then they seldom understand what I'm saying anyway!

hi ho, off to work etc etc

Yes, I thought that would be the answer I'd get ...

quite frankly, as is well known, appreciated and welcomed, I always post clear, objective, simple and succinct messages - how could I not do so?

as to the sly creature DtB, editing one of my posts and then having the sheer cheek to misquote me ... this isn't wikipedia you know!

a deep, icy accident is too good for him (this too could be a posting that belongs in a different place).

some sv83s arrived today - wonder how different/better they sound to el84s.

The defendent was heard to utter:

I rest my case.
