I built summat similar a few years ago and still love their sound. They image superbly too, I think you'll be happy.

Actually, get the sander out, strip that varnish from the speakers and get with the veneer !

Ha! Thats not my table ... so ner! Thats what served me as a workbench in my old shed, A lump of plastic covered chipboard (from a horrible 1980's fitted wardrobe) screwed to a 4 x 4 clamped to the luggage rack of an Enfield Bullet. Well chuffed - for a small speaker, bass response and imaging are excellent - as near-field units they hit the spot for me
