#2357 The wonderful world of clipleads : No. 14
Some more increments.
Friday, got speakers running with new zobels and had some listening - coming along nicely.
Today, got the 300B amp breadboard ( v.dusty ) out and re-instated the low-pass filter on left channel, with some mods. 4k on pot, 2400pF to ground. With zout of pentode ( ~7.5k ) this gives approx. 5.7KHz low pass to the bass and mids.
I also wired the right channel to the same stereo pot ( they have been separately adjustable ) now that both channels will be doing the same thing.
Left tweeter was furnished with existing high-pass filter, 0.68mH across terminals, and 3.9uF to positive, that's a transitional filter with main 1st-order cross around 5kHz.
I got the tweeter amp over, found one litz speaker wire, and clip-leaded an interconnect to the left channel volume pot.
So playing now, and sounding very tasty indeed, if I do say so myself. Finally feels like the work has been worth it. Now I just need to get a low table to put over the main power supply, to hold the tweeter amp in a useful place, then I can go stereo ( if I can find the other litz speaker wire )

Interesting how few horns you have ended up with considering the journey.

The horns come back in part 2.

It's all about the journey. I can't say anything about how long things take
Well done. Hope you find that lead. Under the computer again?

Keep coming back for another look. Fantastic work. Really like the way the crossover box sits in the side panel.

Thanks.
I do have 3/4 of a great horn system done.
Next build will be Cornet double-horn for 5" driver - as test of principle.

In retrospect, it was obvious.
Instead of putting it in the blue box ( from Bud Purvine ) with the left speaker cable and some interconnects, I put it under a spare duvet and a couple of pillows on the bed in the 2nd-floor bedroom, near the valve wardrobe. Should have remembered !
