They do seem to have some weird customs in Blackburn.

Aye, there's teenagers taping other teenagers to everything here.

You practice indoors from age 11, until you're ready to go out into the world and tape people up. The best of us can permanently attach someone to a wall (or ceiling) in just under a minute. Extra points if they're upside down, or asleep.

It's a hard life...

You start small, taping people to benches, posts, that kind of thing. :D

Busy weekend - one unit finished apart from the cosmetics . Phew ! Heavy beast - it dropped on my foot at one stage  I won't allow that to happen again .

those would be Supravox would they? Curious why they aren't in a dipole? Not deep enough? Not damped enough?

Hi Paul
It's a tapped horn , featuring an 18-Sound 10W400 driver.
For the story on this , best to read this thread if you can -

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofe ... -horn.html

it's not a very long thread , and you can see the advantages - it's basically a compact version of horn bass that works over about 2 octaves .

The white horn is an Azura AH-425 sat on a (massive) GPA 288-H compression driver, which is like a late-model Altec 288 .
The next part of the project is a mid-bass horn which will be a rectangular Edgar-style horn about 75x50cm mouth and 90cm long, running either the 8PE21 driver - on the floor in that shot - or more likely a Fane Studio 8M ( if I can get one ) later . That will take me from where the tapped horn rolls off ( ~130Hz ) up to 700Hz where the Azura comes in .
Wish me luck :?

I'm hoping we'll reach the minimum order for Fane to remake 25 pairs of the Studio 8M - see this thread -

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/group-bu ... run-3.html

I know Romy the Cat, John Hasquin and CV all rate the Fane very highly for tone .

i am staying clear of speakers this time round.

Hence the Cerwin Vegas which are OK enough with a little help from a vintage paper tweeter.

The sort of project you are on is way out of my comfort zone.
