Not only is it illegal, it's also dead boring. Hence my slightly quizzical comment.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

Slightly queasical, how do you know it's dead boring?

I did of course use the name "reece witherspoon" prior to using the initials RW , generally I assume readers are intelligent enough to review past posts if confused .

I don't think confusion was going on here.

Surely it's self evident that necrophilia is dead boring? And Daniel, I did see that you referenced Reece Witherspoon, but unwisely chose to ignore it for comic effect. Unsuccessfully, it would seem.

He's new here Shane, and not aware of our 'specialist comedy' I suspect.

I've been to lots of Wetherspoons, never felt the urge to....

It would seem so .

But don't be too hard on yourself , once you have started a thread with a joke that is a £10,000 phono stage , all other jokes will be poor in comparison .

Out of interest, is the idea of anything costing more than £10,000 a joke to you, or is its specific to phono stages?

A heart transplant currently costs the NHS £40,000. That is worth the money .

Eh , I answered your question.

Wow, I guess they dont teach much in the way of logic these days.

So we have one example of something costing more than 10k that you don't regard as a joke.

I guess it has to mean that its only specific to phono stages. So, what’s the cut off, £5k, £9k, £200? Given that you have previously admitted to having not heard one, I can only assume your cut-off in the transition to joke must be due to some belief, as it can't be based on direct observation. So what you seem to be saying that your faith has told you what is and isn’t a joke. Way to go renaissance man.

If that is what you meant then you should have said so . It is people using imprecise language and others assuming what others mean rather than saying what they mean and/or addressing what they actually say that is half the problem with meandering bollock threads .

the last time I looked at a dictionary "anything" meant " refer to a thing no matter what"

The concept of price in a capitalist society is a difficult thing , Marx wrote 3 volumes on it , but in the case of this £10,000 phono stage , lets add up the costs of parts and labour , take away the dealer mark up and then lets begin to discuss it .The price is a joke , go on justify it without resorting to clichés .

I would be also be interested in what valid logic would leave me to legitimately infer when you said "anything" you actually meant phono stages . Read your question again . The very meaning of the words moves the subject matter away from phono stages .I find it best for my interlocutor if they do not patronise me .

Ok, lets have set A, that consists of all objects that cost more than £10,000

Then lets have set B, that consists of members of A that you do not regard as a joke.

Then lets have set C that are all members of B that are not phono stages.

Is C the empty set?

Clearly you have given a example of such an object: "a heart transplant", so I can only infer from this that you automatically assume that any phono set costing more than £10,000 is a joke, while you don't from what you have said automatically assume that other classes of objects can be declared a joke in the same way.

Again, as it seems not to be based on direct observation (by your own admittance), so I can only assume you do this via some form of magical thinking.
