Very pleased it's all working out for you - it's a great combination you've got there.

Aye, it certainly sounds the biz. Even on my knackered old played to death eighties pop LPs and 45s, it doesn't make too much of a meal of the fuzz and vinyl wear.
But it's the jazz, fusion, soul, disco and old 60s stuff that really shines with this arm. Super mids and treble tone with slammy deep bass on the disco stuff. Lipps Inc "Funky Town" on 12" and Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) being superb examples of everything this combo does right.
Lovely.

You'll be installing a glitter ball, wearing a white suit, throwing shapes and pointing a lot if you're not careful, SteveCressy Snr wrote:Lipps Inc "Funky Town" on 12" and Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real) being superb examples of everything this combo does right.

Really glad it has turned out so well for you. I hope you get many hours of enjoyment from the Mayware. It's a pleasure seeing it used well and bringing a smile to your face.

I'm certainly enjoying listening to my records with the Lenco/Mayware/Shure combination. It offers a sound from vinyl that is what I believe it should sound like and makes it once more, a viable medium with which to enjoy music within the context of my own system.

Had a couple of friends round last night and had a bit of a vinyl fest, playing everything from Herb Alpert rescued from charity shops, to Barry White, to Spyrogyra, to Deep Purple and Rick Wakeman. Great fun and everything with no exceptions, played beautifully.
A success, I think

Have ordered a 2oz bottle of 60000cS silicone fluid for the arm damping.
That ever useful site Lenco Heaven came up with the correct viscosity and a supplier of accessories for radio controlled
model racing cars, who sell the stuff for a fraction of the price of hi-fi fluid. They sell it as diff fluid at £6.99 for a bottle.
I'm using olive oil at the moment, with good results, but might as well get the proper stuff especially at that price; no brainer really.

Extra virgin "Audiophile" olive oil of course. £750 per pipette. Bargain!
It's so good, you hear instruments that aren't even on the recording.

I was passing Mexborough today and stopped for a listen. Sounded great, much better than the old arm. I too have a Mayware and it is my best arm. Need to bin off the air bearing arm soon as.

Heard it yesterday with the f4 on, it is definitely much better. Shows up the ol arm as shit.
I shall be rewiring it completely before it goes on the jbe or thorens or 99 or whatever i have gotten around to fettling.
I have some 0.315 mm diameter solid silver wire to make a new arm cable, and a nice neutrik din plug and socket. The socket will just fit into the base of the arm pillar if i cut off the mounting flange in place of the bung that's in there.
I also have some silver internal wiring for it.
See if i can polish a turd.......

Hi Ant,
Do you have any spare dosh at the moment? With your very capable skills you could easily manage doing this.

Seriously, it would turn your OL arm into a giant killer. I use the series 5 version and I have no inclination to upgrade whatsoever.
Sorry for the thread drift, Steve. Just wanted to put Ant in the picture.
