#1 Pierre Clément cutter lathe

Post by jack »

Was in Paris this weekend and took the opportunity to visit the brocante (antiques) markets in Clignancourt (St-Ouen, North of the City)...

Not much in the way of our sort of stuff, but lots of vinyl (many, many stores), and most importantly, a place called "Sounds Good"...

Amongst the lovely (and VERY expensive) stuff they had, was a mid-1950s, hand-made, Pierre Clément cutter lathe made especially for Guy Tavernier (a very famous French sound mixer and engineer).

This thing was hand made, a BEAST, weighing in at well over 100kg (the under-turntable flywheel must have been 50kg on its own), and was lovely. I'll upload a photo tonight (can't find one on the www). Chap said its not for sale as only two were ever made, but he might consider offers over 15,000 euros...
