Goodbye yellow brick Road, trifold sleeve, yellow double vinyl, perfect condition.
I thought it was a reissue but it isn't, its an original djm pressing from 73 with the word strawberry in the runout groove. 13 quid.....

Now that's a bargain. Looking on Popsike they can go for over £200, although the prices are incredibly variable.
Interestingly there's also a Mobile Fidelty version of that album.

Paid a fiver for mine. Discogs gives better indication of value.

Totally agree - you're not going to make any difference to the value by playing it a few times with a well set-up cartridge and arm.
I must dig in a bit more to some of the high-value sales on that - it's a bit surprising.

Going off on a tangent. But with your moniker I wondered what your favourite albums are on the island label.

Oh well now you're talking - a subject I can really get me teeth into.
Trouble is limiting the list, or remembering every band/artist that was on there- especially c.1970
Going out in a few mins, but the first ones that spring to mind :
Liege and Lief by Fairport , and almost as good 'What we did on our holidays' and 'Unhalfbricking'.
'Bryter Later' by Nick Drake , every track a cast-iron classic. Close behind 'Five Leaves left' and 'Pink Moon'.
'Court of the Crimson King' and honourable mention for 'Larks Tongues in Aspic' and 'Starless and Bible Black'.
John Martyn's 'Bless the Weather' and 'Solid Air' with his other albums close behind.
Blodwyn Pig'Ahead Rings Out'
Jethro Tull 'Stand Up'.
'Catch a Fire' Bob Marley.
'Traffic' Traffic ( 2nd album )
... more later ....

Would definitely agree with all those choices and am lucky enough to have all those selections too.
Also have a soft spot for Quintessence and Traffic's other Island recordings. Oh and ELP as well.
Keep them coming!

Good stuff. I am so glad I bought most of these LP's a few years ago - the prices are eye-watering nowadays, though I did pay £300 for Five Leaves Left.
Bronco 'Country Home'
Cat Stevens 'Mona Bone Jakon' ( on pink ! )
Richard & Linda Thompson 'I want to see the bright lights tonight'.
The Chieftains ( Four or Eight ? - couple of LPs are really exceptional, had forgotten about them till I looked at a list ) .

Qunitessence yes, though I don't have one of their albums ( yet ).
I think the key thing about me getting into Island was the 'Bumpers' collection which I bought early-on around 2001 when I re-started collecting vinyl. Loads of superb tracks on there.
Free 'Tons of Sobs' I like very much ; this may be on Chrysalis, but that's almost the same thing !

Original "Tons of sobs" was on Island. Nice enough to eat was before Bumpers and is highly recommended. There are some copies on eBay at the moment.PM your address and I'll send a copy of a Quintessence album.

Talking of Tons of Sobs, look what I picked up at Vinyl Tap a couple of weeks ago when we were on Hols up Huddersfield way...
I also saw and bought...
and whilst up there couldn't resist popping in and seeing our-DaveB at MCRU, and purchased...

Good effort Dave - nice stuff.
Tons of Sobs - respect due ! - love it.
I was just wondering why I recognised the man 'Wozzy' who'd written on your LP there - suddenly dawned on me - I was in the same shop at the weekend and I looked at another album also from Wozzy's collection, similarly personalised !
Wish I'd realised how close Dave's demo room is, but I was with a non-HiFi friend and had limited time anyway.
