Good that another generation of people will be introduced to the Beatles. I think my record buying from age of ~14 went : Abba ( Single ), Pink Floyd, Jean Michel Jarre , Monkees, Beatles, Doors, Captain Beefheart :D Must have had the first Beatles album around 16 or 17 I suppose.

Found a Hollies, Greatest Hits on an original 1968, mono, Parlophone pressing from the Market hall today for a tenner.
Nice quiet pressing, but a slight fuzz behind everything, through being played on a Dansette, with BSR Monarch ten-ton pickup, probably. From the sound of the disc, whoever had it only played side one.

However, it sounds sooooo much better musically than the stereo releases on CD I have. Different mixes, these monos, by the sound of them, loud as buggery, immediate and none of that left/right nonsense with the music in one speaker and the vocals in the other. Not bad for an almost 50 year old slab of vinyl.

I had a laugh at the new EMI releases advertised in the inner sleeve, nice bit of Frankie Vaughan and Des for Phil, along with Pink Floyd's Piper and The Beatles Sgt Pepper, plus Good News by Cliff Richard and a bit of The Seekers Seen in Green, plus many more chartbound sounds, where's Emperor Rosko, when you need him.

I don't mind vinyl fuzz, if it comes from genuine ancient pop records; it adds to the character :D
Sgt. Baker started talkin’ with a Bullhorn in his hand.

Been after this one for months. Got it on CD but fancy playing it in vinyl, as you do. :D

Plays OK so far, after a damn good clean up!

Crikey your charity shops are better than ours. Good finds !
Once you have listened to that Steve Hillage, get 'Green' as this should be an essential part of any record collection. I'm sure Dave will chip in on this.

Liking both ot these lps, the tangerine dream doesnt seem as 'tangerine dream', abit more mainstram maybe. At least mainstream for them.

The steve hillage lp is very good, glad I picked them up

Then you'll have to get some Gong eg. Angel's Egg. It's a slippery slope !

Treated myself to some more vinyl for my birthday, and went to the record stall in Mexborough market.
Picked up some more stuff
Stepping out - the very best of Joe Jackson
Deacon blue - when the world knows your name
Clannad - pastpresent
Bad company - run with the pack
Bauhaus - burning from the inside

The Bauhaus one is absolutely perfect, it looks brand new

Know the Joe Jackson and the deacon blue, no idea about the rest, although ive obviously heard of Clannad and bad company. No idea about the Bauhaus though

Absolute favourite, along with Hats.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

I remember 'Bella Lugosi's dead' by Bauhaus. They were certainly popular with the sect within our 6th-form that liked SLF, the Fall and the UK Subs !
