#1 SP10 at 16rpm

Post by RussellS »

This is for real. I have a few 16rpm records and an old Philips autochanger that plays 16, 33, 45 and 78 that I want to junk.

I also have a Technics SP10 Mk2 that does 33, 45 and 78 but not 16. Anyone got a mod for me?

(Incidentally, I also have a Technics SL1200 for which I have requested - on another thread - a 78rpm mod but I would be happy if someone had a 16rpm mod as well.)
I either do, or I don't. There is no 'try'.

I believe the Lenco GL-75 had a 16 rpm setting.

I would have to check the sp10 diag, but I would hope adding another %2 in the clock chain might get you part way into changing the 33 into a 16, but there might be other issues with the phase lock circuit.

This appears to be phase-locked loop controlled so needs the control frequency to be reduced, as suggested here, not terribly helpful though

Thanks to all for comments.

I want to standardise on one table so using other makes doesn't help in this case.

Thanks to Nick and Mike for some ideas and the links. I'm peering at the circuitry as we speak...

I have the SL-1200 working at 16 2/3rpm. It needs a new parallel crystal and some PLL changes.
