#1 Ripping problem

Just bought a cheap CD on a recommendation (Booth and the Bad Angel - from 1996) but I can't rip it. I've tried EAC, MediaMonkey and Windows Media Player and the same happens: the disk is read, and as the tracks start to be populated a File Manager window opens, then a message box opens saying insert a disk, and the disk is ejected. Every time.

There must be something written to the disk to automatically eject it to prevent copying. But as I don't use CD direct it's rather annoying. Any ideas how I can rip it???

Sounds like copy protection of some sort.
Have you tried dBPoweramp?
Might be worth a trial if you haven't tried it already.

I've got a CD somewhere that only plays in a CD player, never works properly in any computer drive I've tried and so can't be played or "ripped". No error messages, but the playback is "chopped", like bursts in between silences, but really quick.

Yeah, some kind of copy protection. Bit frustrating as I don't actually want to copy it. I'll p'raps have a look at dbpoweramp.

dBpoweramp sorted it Chris :-).

It's so quick too - takes around a minute a CD rather than a quarter of an hour for EAC. And I didn't have to mess about finding the tag info and album art. Might just treat myself to the £30-worth for Chrimbo.

That's good to hear, Simon :)
Been using dBPoweramp for quite a few years now, and it just ripped the occasional copy protected disc I fed it with no fuss.

Yes, another thumbs up for dbpoweramp, I've been using it for almost ten years now; it's easy to use and always works.
