#1 USB - SP-DIF converter.

I was reading (on another forum) a glowing account of Amarra 4 file replay software.

I thought I might take advantage of the free trial, but my DAC (Bushmaster 2) has not got a USB input.

I have got a cheapie USB to SP-DIF adaptor, but wonder if it will mask the wonderfulness of the software.

So the question is, can anyone recommend a quality USB to SP-DIF converter at a "reasonable" price ?

Stan Beresford does one worth checking out. Better still, trade in the Bushmaster for a Caiman SEG.

There are no drivers for the Beresford SEG, which means that the USB won't deal with anything above Windows base playback specification, which was 24/48 last time I looked.

Ok, thanks Chris. Out and about on phone only. Posted off the top of my inadequate head :roll:

Stan B does show a USB to S/PDIF converter on his website, but there's nothing listed in his web store.
Might be worth an ask.

Might be of interest, looks to be a well considered design;

I used a Musical Fidelity VDAC2 with VPSU for quite a few years. I now use an Audioquest Dragonfly Red together with a 3.5mm to phono converter. Both work well. I believe the MF V90 dac is good too.

They're all DACs, not USB to SPDIF devices?

You can try some of the converters
Matrix USB 24/96
Musical Fidelity V-Link II
JK SPDIF Mk3
Hegel HD2 - (this primarly an USB DAC but can be also used as standalone USB/SPDIF converter)
I hope this will help.
