#1 Sun Audio Japan

Post by pre65 »

Has anyone had any direct dealings with Sun Audio in Japan ?

I was looking at Tamura output transformers in particular.

NO !

I was looking at a pair of NOS Tamura F475 OPT on e-bay, and they were up to £137.33 plus shipping from USA.

When I looked at the Sun Audio prices they are £118.72 + £87.55 shipping for a brand new pair.

Mind you, as far as Tamura goes, they are budget ones.

I'm no fan of passing on possible mis-information...but...there was a thread on diyaudio some time back where a chap had had the guided tour of xyz's transformer factory.......at the end of the line identical transformers were either given a 'james' badge or a 'tamura' badge.......IIRC they were supposed to be the 2000 series

you pays your money etc

I had a supposed pair on a 2a3 a while back and they sounded good, but there's no real way of authenticating them.

Interesting!

I know lot of these factories you can choose what they've got and they'll put your badge on it if you want.

And falsify CE certificates as well

So much for that "safety net"

I don't think CE is entirely what you think it is, all that is is "self declaration" under the terms of the mark.
