#1 Moth RCM Mk II (record cleaning machine)

Post by Thermionic Idler »

Can't remember exactly how long I've had this thing, I think I got it in the early 2000's. All in working order (very little to go wrong) although the velvet pads on the vacuum tube might need refixing as they are peeling off. Excess to requirements now as I have the Loricraft.

£149 to properly vacuum clean your LPs - and I may well bring it to you cos again it's big and heavy. Includes a partial bottle of Moth cleaning fluid.

Big thankyou to dave (the vinyl junkie :D ) for fetching the rcm on his 400 odd mile saturday odyssey, first time ive used a 'proper' rcm, and i can now see why people swear by these machines
The knosti is perfectly adequate for most uses, but the rcm cleans more thoroughly. With the acquisition of this, i am now a fully paid up vinyl nerd..... the final step....
Cheers dave

No worries Ant, I'm glad it's getting some use again. I've never had to use the tap on the front to empty the tank as the fluid mostly just evaporates, but you might need to depending on how intensively you use it.

It's a noisy bugger though isn't it? Ear protection needed.

I did 4 or 5 discs yesterday, and yep it is a noisy bugger but its only for 10/15 seconds so not too bad. I have some ear defenders on hand though
I dont plan to go through every disc and clean them, ill just clean them as and when i want to play them, or maybe in a small batch when i buy new (to me) stuff
I dont think ill need to empty it either
