#1 Colin & Scott's clearance thread -v.2

Post by Scottmoose »

Way too much stuff around that needs an appreciative home. And we need appreciative homes too -which they will be after we've cleared out some of our clutter. ;) So to coin a phrase, 'practically giving it away'.

First up, 2 pairs of Mark Audio CHP-70 Gen.2 drivers with the 'natural' / parchment colour cone. Brand new in box.

This is an interesting little 4in wideband / fullrange unit, that suits speakers like Frugel-Horn Mk3, I've done pensil MLTLs for it, it's fine for vented box & small sealed too. Pretty much whatever you like & it's a nice thing to listen to. Above 7KHz the response is shelved down to smooth things out; it was intended to provide a 'vintage' tonal balance, or something approaching that. Having a shallow cone profile it's nicely consistent over a fairly wide listening axis, and there's the usual MA polymer frame, low-mass cone & long throw suspension. It makes quite a neat little 4in midbass as an alternative to running wideband. It also blends quite nicely with a tweeter > 7KHz if preferred.

Asking £40 + postage per pair.

Spec. attached, and an image of a build using it. This is one of my pensil MLTLs that a chap in the 'States did a couple of years back. Nice work; the panels are leather-clad. In the right box, it's good for mid-40Hz regions -not at all shabby for a 4in widebander.

1pr lightly used Mark Audio Alpair 10P. About 20 hours on them, original boxes.

Nice 5in paper cone wideband driver; good for output down to the high 30Hz regions in the right box. Usual MA polymer frame, long throw suspension & low-mass cone. It's a shallow profile, like most MA drivers, so good off-axis. Well-liked, very popular & lots of box designs out there. Good for QW, sealed, regular vented, horns etc.

Asking £70 + postage for the pair.
