Seeing as they are in Edinburgh, I've removed the temptation for you.

Interesting OB woofer. Nice to see a spec of 50W RMS rating these days !

Aye thought they might be worth a try. Got them for a decent price too.

Cool, nice one Ali.
Could it drop into your existing OBs and go for a 2.5-way with the bottom Eminence woofer rolling in just to help out the lower midrange and bass?
With the MiniDSP, it might be quite easy to try.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm going to try at the weekend.
Did get them mounted last night, took out the top Alpha. Hooked them up to run full range by themselves using the OTL. First impression is a bit meh. Cuppy colouration to the upper end, and no bass to speak of..
Maybe the 4w of the OTL isn't enough, will try a more powerful amp.
Or maybe it's that those vintage compression drivers are really rather good..
Not quite what I was expecting given the pretty much universal praise these seem to have on the interweb.
If I like what I hear with a bass helper, I'll try a simple low pass on the remaining Alpha and remove the dsp from the equation, see if it sounds better than the dsp.

I didn't think you were going to use them full range - the treble looks terrible !

Yes, meant the bass end looks good compared to many.
Will let the ears decide, as usual.

Looks alright for a coaxial.IslandPink wrote: ↑Thu Jun 22, 2017 11:24 am I didn't think you were going to use them full range - the treble looks terrible !
Ali, I found problems with a particular HF horn with the "cupped hands" colouration. Came down to a peak somewhere in the midrange, and taking that out really helped. It might be down to the baffle dimensions or a whole load of things, but I don't see much on the driver's spec sheet to suggest there should be any major problems.
If you can alter the MiniDSP filters in real-time, try adding a 5dB peak (Q=2) at 500Hz, and then slowly move it upwards. When the colouration is at it's most offensive, you've found the centre frequency and can start attenuating.
It's not clear, but do the coaxials have their own crossover, or are you going to bi-amp them? Have you tried them with the compression driver, or are your impressions with just the 15" cone (which appears to have a whizzer)?
Shame they don't have more power handling, or they'd be a lot of fun as a PA speaker.

There's not a lot of info out there on these, however since each driver has four terminals, two sets of each connected with a removeable wire link, presumably there is an internal crossover ( just a cap on the tweeter?). I could also try driving them actively by removing the link. I'll give it a go tomorrow if I get time, just spent several hours trying to get the USB ports on my media pc to work again after a fuse blew on the balanced power supply. Managed to get some working, strangely not all though. Will have to try uninstalling all the drivers and reinstalling, see if that fixes it.

Are they measured on a different scale ?
Just use two of the terminals, Ali !
