#1 Anyone got a turntable to sell?

Post by cressy »

Hi guys, anyone got a turntable they'd like to sell?
Having completed the lenco motor unit rebuild that has gone to my dad, I want another project to get into

I get kind of restless building things for other people so I like to have something on the boil for myself.

Anything really considered, dd, belt or idler, something I can have a good go at

I may still have my Lenco 99 tucked away somewhere, sounds crazy I know but I have so much stuff and so many places to store it all, It takes days to find.

Will look for it and bring to Owsten.

Just give me the lower end of the average price found through a search. i.e. don't have my legs off, but get a good deal.

I have a spare Thorens TD160 'mark 1' that I'm not using. Bought it new in 1975. But I bought a 2nd hand one in 2007 to put a Rega arm on it and that's my main one now. Yuo made the oak 'armboard' for it.

The arm on the first one was hacked about but I've also got the one that came came off No. 2 which is still pristine unmolested.

Can bring it all to Owsters if you want.

Here's what a standard one looks like:

Just bear in mind that for a proper job, you'll probably have to factor in water jet cutting and thereafter surface levelling before all the polishing with wet 'n' dry/Emory cloth etc.

Know what you mean though. I always look carefully at the headstones in grave yards

All I know is, you can polish stone with a block of the same stone and elbow grease. I think you can saw slate although obviously water jet is best, its not essential. You make holes by punching them not drilling them. You wear a very good dust mask, its worse at sticking in your lungs and never coming back out than asbestos.
