#1 Hello from North Somerset

Post by Phil Y »

Hello every one, I see some names I recognise here.

Just so you all know where I'm at, I listen to the following:
GL75 in solid plinth with OL'd RB250 and Goldring 1042
Home built (non kit)WD Phono II
WD KEL84
Tannoy Cheviots
Leak Troughline
Cambridge Audio D500SE(lightly modded)

Regards, Phil.

Hi Phil, welcome aboard.

I also have a D500SE, but it hardly gets used these days, which is a shame.

I've had the lid off and looked around a few times, but everything looks so small. Are there any "simple" mods, or does anything worthwhile involve changing chips ?

Welcome.

Seems a familiar system, are you on lencoheaven?

I have a very similar system, modded gl75, WD phonoIII clone, modded kel84, leak trougline and 10@ tannoy hpd's.

I did have a goldring 1012gx but now use a rega apheta.

So, we seem to have similar tastes 8)

Hello Dave,
I know there is little to give between a 75 and a 99 sound wise but I would love one all the same. The price they fetch these days I just have to live in hope of finding one at a jumble sale for 50 pence!

When he says mahoosive, he means mahoosive.

Well, to be fair, the topic heading is "hello from North Somerset".

That is a bit of a give away.

When I completed mine I tried it on the bathroom scales and it measured 18Kg.
Not sure if they are accurate at such (fairly low) weights though. It is the same in plan as the original "box" but taller so quite a modest build really, nothing to compete with the big boys.

I gave up after about 16kgs but GL78 is a smasher ( with a Roxane arm)!

Wilkommen!
