Sorry Ray, I was stopped by some sort of sign-in procedure.
I thought sign-in was still optional at the BBC website, hmm.
we actually watched it via catch-up on the TV.
There's some great archive material on iplayer (generally, not just music) so maybe worth having a sign-in anyway as the BBC isn't intrusive with lots of spam etc.
Meanwhile, next -
Citation : Percussion . From John Peel's all-time favourite drummer.
One of my favourite tracks, from 3:42 approx. for nearly 2 minutes, Robert Wyatt shows off the kind of musical talent that very few drummers ever have :
"Once you find out ... the Circumstances ; then you can go out"

Different genre but James Gadson got a talent that drives songs like a choo choo IMO. Also, top secret stabs at 1.31 let you know he's still listening
The whole song is just so awethumne in its simplicity, Bill knew what he had there was special I reckon.
Ooof Just been knocked off my feat by that. Some serious musical education there, confirms Zawinul as a genius and that drummer ( Omar Hakim ? ) - fantastic . Thanks Nick !
Meanwhile, here a clip I had to post at some point .
Rock guitar : Jeff Beck , Big Block, Ronnie Scott's in 2007 . Nuff said :
"Once you find out ... the Circumstances ; then you can go out"
Songwriting and vocals -
Probably my favourite track from Joni Mitchell's early period , but there are plenty to choose from.
I can well believe David Crosby's comment that he was 'transfixed' when he first saw Joni in Florida :
"There's a sorrow in his eyes, like the angle made of tin...what will happen if I try to place another heart in him"
"Once you find out ... the Circumstances ; then you can go out"
Maybe the male equivalent of the last post ?
Citation : Male Vocal performance.
"The earth is broken" from Tim Buckley 'Dream Letter, Live in London 1968'.
"Are we the last ones ... the last ones to try ?"
"Once you find out ... the Circumstances ; then you can go out"
Not everyone's cup of tea but any Hellenophiles here will appreciate it. Part of a live album we play a lot at home. Would have done anything to be there. The atmosphere was electric.
I may have mentioned him before but here's one of the most sublime and under-recognised guitarists of the last 50yrs, and a track title just right for a lot of you people who live 'Up Norf'...
