#1 Gong @ Meltdown.

Post by Dave the bass »

 Gadzooks.

Gong (inc. Mr Hillage and wifey) are doing 2 dates in Lundun Village if anyones in the 'hood. Saturday 14th at the QEH Southbank as part of Massive Attacks 'Meltdown' thingy. http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/all-ev ... ownMassive

Tickets SOLD OUT on the southbank website but still available from Ticketmaster.

The following day (Sunday 15th) they're with the same line up at the Forum, Kentish town. http://www.artistticket.com/artist/?s=gong

Just wondered if anyone else was going.

Being a PHP meself I'm going to both gigs but Julie the stitch could only take one night....slack I call it.

Oh, we do have others to choose from :-)

And we have some older bridges as well.

Ah, the Kashmir. I have spent many nights in there, though I thought it was never the same after they got rid of the trestle tables and went upmarket. It was always a challenging vindaloo...

20 years ago I went inside the Humber Bridge deck. Quite spooky hearing cars bouncing on the deck plates overhead and looking through the gaps between the boxes at the rather muddy brown Humber Estuary below. A mate is the Bridge Master there and has promised me a walk out on to the hangers someday. Probably best done in summer as that part of the Estuary is probably the coldest place I've ever been to in Britain.

It's okay Dave, we all understand that the population of London thinks civilisation ends north of Watford Gap. It's probably for the best for all concerned.

Cor, You've gotta take your mate up on the offer of that bridge trip. Thats a once in a lifetime sorta thing innit. I love doing stuff like that, one of my faves was going down into the transmitter holds of Radio Caroline, phwoooaarrr!

Well, he did say okay after a few beers, and I suspect with Health and Safety legislation as it is these days the actuality might be a little less forthcoming. :(
