My Boss saw him at Warwick Festival last weekend. Solo, no band, totally ace he reckoned.

Have fun :)

Superb !
Interestingly ... I'm travelling over with another guy from work, who saw him at the same event at the weekend . He agrees ! - so I'll be having a good chat with him on the way over about what he played and other good 'stuff' . And, the sun will be shining ! - what better way to spend a Wednesday ! ( I told him to bring a chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc to offset the petrol cost - is this gloating ? ) .

Well, no disappointments on this one ( OK, my colleague Nick forgot to bring the wine ... as expected ) , Richard Thompson is a hero, and a class above most good musicians you'd ever see :notworthy: The whole event was near-perfect : great musician, great venue, great sound, great weather , great pub 5mins walk down the road .
His daughter & her husband - 'Rails' - did a fine opening set for about 30 mins . Then a break, and we got about 2 hours from Richard including (2) encores.

The highlights for me were :
Bathsheba Smiles ( opening number )
Vincent Black Lightning
Genesis Hall ( yes, from the early Fairport days )
Persuasion

His guitar playing alone would set him apart from most singer-songwriters but I hadn't fully appreciated how subtle and complex the vocal parts are on some of the songs, and how they weave together with the very beautiful & difficult guitar parts . The Vincent Black Lightning song for instance is very demanding and much better than I'd realised from couple of brief hearings on TV .

If you can get a ticket anywhwere while he's still in the UK, please rush ..

Oh, and by the way - the crowd went wild - which was pretty good , considering the age profile !
