I've been listening to Vivaldi the Four Seasons by Nigel Kennedy

It was a free CD that came with the Sunday Mail

TBH is great, thoroughly enjoying it, even on my non valve "make do" set-up and speakers. (too much building work and dust for the main system right now)

That's a great bargainette. I only have this on vinyl and it is a smasher if it is the one from, was it 1989. Nigel Kennedy certainly plays with so much energy and flair, it is exciting.

On the version he did a couple of years ago, I think, he goes much too far and the whole beauty of the music disappears.

I have that original version somewhere Andrew. Found it cheap - haven't listened to it in years. I'll have to dig it out.

What put me off NK is the staged way in which he talks; and being a Villa supporter. Mostly being a Villa supporter .

He's more of a surfer Dave. It's like skating but without the wheels and with the crushing power of the ocean.

Me, I like climbing mountains. They move more at my speed.

Hi Andrew,

According to the CD label it's 1989,

it's superbly recorded, sounds good even on CD

I'd love to hear a proper recording on vinyl

I too have the freebie version from The Mail on Sunday. Plays fine and sounds wonderful on my tubed CD at home through the statics.

However, my car CD player rejects this CD with "ERROR CD" message.

Is there some code recorded on the CD preventing it playing on anything other than home CD players?
