Interesting Afternoon's listening as I finally got the sub woofer working properly with the Sonido speakers.
Tracy Chapman - Tracy Chapman
Wonderful record full of emotion - love her voice.
Willie Nelson - Spirit
Possibly the best recorded guitar sound and what a voice!
Bizet/Shchedrin - Carmen Suite for strings and percussion.
Amazing percussion - superb dynamics

An interesting selection there James. Had never come across the band Rare Bird or that single - good effort !

I first heard Rare Bird listening to the John Peel show on the radio whilst having a bath... what a clean teenager shock! horror!
Its a great album too and Steve Gould's voice is right up there with the best of them.
Probably the real surprise is the Willie Nelson - its beautifully recorded - very simple and old Trigger sounds fabulous - I really do mean its the best recorded guitar sounds that I have heard...

Aha ! - very good tip - but I see a shootout forming here
We put that up against Michael Hedges 'Breakfast in the field' and Sabicas 'Gypsy Flamenco' ( 1959 ) !

Shoot Out!!!
Yeah it would be great.
I don't know the Sabicas 'Gypsy Flamenco' ( 1959 ) one for me to check - thanks
I like the Michael Hedges and his playing is rather good - and that's the thing about the Willie Nelson - his playing is good but not extraordinary, its the guitar and its tone and transients that is so beautifully recorded and makes it stand out.
If its a shoot out we should have Richard Thompson Acoustic Classics in there too
