'New Adventures in HiFi ' ( REM ) .
Brings back some memories , been a while since I played it.
On the James D 'son's speaker' design - FX120 on 30L sealed box. Very good. Mono of course.
CD seems to have been mastered in the early part of the 'loudness wars' , about 8dB louder than the last one I put on.

edit : Patti Smith on E-Bow the Letter . Forgot about that - excellent.

Great album Mark, E Bow The Letter has been a favourite of some of the band members.

The album was recorded on the road during the Monster world tour during sound checks. Peter Buck, who's a rock scholar, said the band should straightaway record a new album after Monster whilst touring to keep things fresh, and I've always thought that brought a good dynamic to the record. And slightly variable recording quality.

It's over 20 years old now but I often come back to it.

Last Friday on BBBBC4 there was a prog about 'sidemen & Sessionmen'. It was fascinating. Ten minutes ago a threee CD compilation of STAX Records fell through my door, rip, rip, rip. I'd forgotten just how wonderful was Steve Cropper. I have two STAX LPs, both the same album and almost unplayable because they are worn out. Such tunes... real R&B... sweet soul music!

Lots of foot stomping enjoyment for me!

Just got in from a gig by these guys;

Marvellous live music by a couple of talented guitarists; they hail from Shane's neck of the woods.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Supertramp - Crime of the Century - my original 1974 pressing.

Surprisingly quiet given its age and history of being played on a BSR C142 autochanger.

Forgot how good this is actually.

Every day, I have to ring BT dozen or so times chasing faults. Frequently, I end up listening to our hold music, which includes this little gem. It is quite honestly the most god-awful bit of talentless crap I've ever heard. Boring, tuneless, dire and dismal, it's obviously been auto tuned, so the so-called singer doesn't even have the ability to achieve the three notes he's trying to sing, if sing is the word I'm looking for. I've heard it at least 30 times this week, so I'm subjecting you lot to it for a change. Who on earth actually likes this stuff?

I'm getting old...

The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

A compilation CD of Welsh male voice choirs.

My dear old Dad was a fan, and I inherited his love of them from him.
