Made for autochangers, with sides 1 & 4 on one record and sides 2 & 3 on the other; an annoying Motown policy for double albums in those days.
But the music...I mean....what is there to say.

It wasn't just Motown that did that with double albums - Tommy by The Who was released like that. My first copy of Electric Ladyland is the same.
It does make sense with an autochange turntable.
I agree - Songs In The Key Of Life is a great album.
I've just discovered this singer...I heard a track on Paradise the other day with an arrangement that made me wake up from my stupour...I went out and got this album but unfortunately the track I heard is not on it...I've now got to go and get some back catalogue. This one is mastered a bit hotter than I usually like but it's growing on me...
