Just picked up on this Freddie Parrot Face Davies classic.
Not strictly Easy Listening so sorry to all you jet setters for polluting this thread but.....
to a nine year old kid in 1967 this was perfect for repeating the title, parrot face style, in class during quiet moments, causing much mirth and disruption and of course getting a clip round the ear.

My late Dad loved it. Mum despaired.

This forum is such a happy and comfortable place to be.

Where Steve can admit to musical likes (like the above  ) without feeling bad.

Saw this LP reviewed in HFW and thought to myself, "I'm sure I have that CD somewhere"
A seminal collection of '50s Latin dance music. It was the album that brought authentic Afro-Cuban dance music to the attention of the world's record buyers, who up to that point had heard little else but sanitised for middle America Arthur Murray one two cha-cha-cha dance tunes.

If you like your Latin music (like I do) this is the real deal.
It blew safe stuff such as "Papa Loves Mambo" by Perry Como into the weeds where it belonged.
Fantastic!
Just don't mix that horn section with your 4 inch Fostexes or Sidcup Screechers

Great stuff there Simon.
99% of Latin music and other types of World music tends to be beautifully recorded, whether from the 50s and 60s acoustic bands, or bang up to date Brazil Electro Latin Lounge. Makes owning a hi-fi system worthwhile, when you hear such wonderful music come alive in your room :D

And this one from The Highwaymen.

This one is, for me, the Sunday morning smell of roast beef sizzling and spitting in Grandma's range, the black arsed kettle singing to itself on the coal fire, Grandad sitting at the gingham clothed breakfast table, "Family Favourites" with Carole Carr oozing out of their Alba valve radio.

Simper times :angel7:

Aye, I like them too.
Another one just popped into my head from Gawd knows where.
You know when you get into a nostalgic mood, thinking about your ancestors with fondness, your brain seems to dig out stuff from nowhere? Well that just happened now.
