Yeah, Sean's a very good singer, rare for a drummer. He used to front a Crowded House 'tribute' band before I knew him.
That track 'Paper' is by a band he works in called '3 Blind Mice'. He drums and does BV's with them. Lyndon Conhuir of Go West/Level42 wrote and sings it, Sean and Alex did the BV's I think.
I never worked with Sean in 3BM, was offered but I couldn't commit enough enough time really as my Dad was on his way out and I've got myself really wrapped up in the local skate scene. I worked with him solid for 3 years in some really good Function bands and some Chill-out Jazzy stuff. Still gig with him occasionally but I prefer the wooden wheelie boards and listening/building music stuff thesedays rather than making it.
He's pro-muso, I'm a bluffer and go skateboarding lots

Here's one for us Geetar widdlers, it's a vid of a guy I got into, Stanley Jordan. He was the first chappie I saw/heard doing the 2 hand tap thingy in the mid80's but not in a 'metal' way.
He did an LP on Blue Note in the 80's called Magic Touch, I was listening to it the other night, still sounds fresh.
Musics good innit.

I heard on the radio today that we have to keep an eye on the 'aged folk' during the winter.
Are you OK? Do you have enough blankets and soup? Are you OK crossing the road?

Oh, not bloody Stanley Jordan, wake me up if he does anything musically interesting instead of just clever.
I remember buying Magic Touch when it came out as well.

Awwww, you didn't like Stanley, then!
Ok, for 'something interesting on the guitar' have a look at what 'Futureman' from the Flecktones is doing on that weirdy synth guitar/controller thingy, is it a Synclaver or summat? Can't remember now.
(All the drum sounds are from him, he fires off samples of drums and percussion from that thing, it still had strings on it when I went to go and see them but I think he's moddded it even more by the looks of things).
I like this lot.

That was nice. I will look out for them.
I still (old sod that I am) think this contains one of the best guitar synth solo's ever.
The fact I like the flugal horn helps as well I guess.

...and for sillyness.
Dave Dederer on 3 string acoustic with the Presidents of the USA and Chris Ballew on the twin neck (with 2 strings on 1 neck and 1 on the other!!!).
Also one of my fave bands, great songs, no noodling for a change.

IMHO, start with Offramp, its got the piece the vid showed, I lost count how many times I must have heard that recording.
There is a lot of great stuff, he tends to produce a couple of easy on the ears recordings, and then throw a more "testing" one in.
He is a bit of a interesting person, left school without any great qualifications and went to study guitar, and was a close frend of Jaco P. But along the way, learnt how to use the english language very well. This link I think is just stunning, not only does he make his point, but as you read it, it develops and climaxes just in the same way a great solo does.
