I reckon he was business savvy. Hi wised-up and sussed that playing amazing Fusion to 3 Duffle Coat wearing Hairy people who can't dance was not the way to buy a Mansion. Pop music however had fans who could dance and were ready to part with cash for 7" singles many times over.

In my next thread I shall explain the evolution of Planet Earth in less than 15 words :-)

Quite true, Dave.
I am reminded of my witty work-colleague Mike who, if conversation turned to someone who had gone 'up the ladder' , or left the company for better things, he would comment "oh dear - looks like he's fallen into that money/status trap" .

I know of 2 folk here that are going to see him on Tuesday.

Both have excited trousers. Individually, not shared.

Just got back from Sunny SarfEnd.

Bluddy 'eck. He's special.

You're in for a treat, all the classics and he did 'Big Block' too (just for me I'd like to think as a thank-you for playing it in a wannabe-clever fusion band in the foyer at that same venue back in the early 90's! Unsurprisingly he did it better than us but we were young and daft).

The 'band sound mix' wasn't all that great, too much LF emphasis IMO, double kick drums were overpowering and Rhonda the poor ol' bassist's sound was a messy wadge of LF fudge on the louder faster numbers but Mr Becks sound tore (thats the correct word) through it all. Awethumne gig.

Only worrying bit though is that he does have an uncanny resemblance to Nigel Tuffnel at times!

Of course, Jeff learned all he knows from Nigel ;)

Ohh! Yep, thats me!

Gig was awesome, like DTB said....
Amazing playing from Tufnell erm Beck, slick drumming, bass unfortunately turned up to 11, but Beck's control... outstanding!

Flat flap flap flap ... crackle singe ... aaarg !! Me trousers is on fire ! :confused3:

I remember the drums being a bit over the top with Narada Michael Walden in 2010 . I'll see how it goes in Manchester then .
In the interview he did on the radio , I do remember now , he admitted that Tufnell was probably modelled on him !

Hmmm...
As discussed with Nick and Dave a bit from work today - it was all a bit 'pear-shaped' at the Bridgewater last night .
Plenty of trouble with bass level , drums overpowering the rest, low bass in particular seemed to be resonating or reverberating quite badly . This in turn seemed to throw off the timing and give an impression of incoherence to the band , which I've never heard at the Apollo gigs.

Nick did provide an interesting link about the Bridgewater hall acoustics that said they were quite strong in the bass, and had a 'reverb time of almost 3 seconds' , which apparently is a good thing for classical music ... maybe .

Anyway, Jeff was very good .
His rendition of 'Danny Boy' was outstanding, and 'Little Wing' , which I've not heard him do before, was superb, would have been even better without the bass issues.

I still think it would be good to 'reform the old band' , as I miss Vinnie and Tal and indeed Jason ; that was a special combination in retrospect .
