After Simon, I decided to put iTunes on random, to see what forgotten stuff came out.
The selection below is pretty interesting.
Walk Right In - José Feliciano
Floating Sequence -Klaus Schulze
Don't Forget About Me - Dusty Springfield
Hosanna (feat. Exco Levi) - Razoof
Bukra Wba'do - Pink Martini
Groovin' - Ruben Wilson
No More Tears - John Mayall's Bluesbreakers
Bei Mir Bist Du Schön - Jools Holland & Joss Stone
Wee See - Thelonious Monk
Giving Up - Donny Hathaway.
Crazy

Hadn't listened to Joss Stone for ages - what a voice... what a stunner... still only 30...

Obscure "ambient genre" stuff by a fella called Chris Zabriske (no neither had I until quite recently) almost certainly an acquired taste I would think, but I like it.
Album called "Cylinders".
Already got his "Vendaface" and some other bits.
Quite good for getting off to sleep at nights.

Nice album. His dad wasn't too bad either.
Just finished watching something that snook up on me ( and probably a few others) - caught it thank god. BBC4 last night around 11:45pm put on a recently re-discovered film from 1968 of Jacqueline du Pre playing the Dvorak cello concerto with Daniel B conducting. It was a concert to raise money for Czechoslovakian refugees from the Russian invasion.
I normally have a bit of blind spot for classical, but I love this piece mainly through the 1956 LP of Paul Tortellier playing it. To see Jacqueline playing this on BBC TV at the height of her powers was a bit of a religious experience. Get it while you can on iPlayer if you didn't see it - marvellous stuff, very very moving.

I'm amazed I haven't played all of this all the way through. Only a couple of tracks from it in compilations.

Well I thought I'd just try Frank Zappa.
ZAPPAtite - Frank's Tastiest Tracks is playing at the moment and I'm laughing out loud.
TBH it's bloody great.
Valley Girl is playing at the moment so I'm currently barfing out with grossness of it all
I'm still mod at heart, but...I'm slowly attempting to widen my horizons a bit instead of whining about all that rocker stuff. It's quite educational, so much so that I've decided to up sticks, move to Montana and be a dental floss tycoon.

I haven't seen that collection, I'll have a look when I get chance. Valley Girl is a damned fine track. The bass line is ace, and the lyrics of course
