On another forum I know of, some (if not most) topics have a 20 characters minimum before a new post will be accepted, to stop that sort of thing.

So what happens? Lots of posts of "padding out", often complete gibberish or repeats of previous text, if they don't have a long enough reply to make. A common one for youtube embeds is to type a repeat of the title, which is already displayed in the youtube window anyway. :D
