Ray P wrote: Sat Mar 23, 2019 12:20 pm Excellent result Steve, it looks absolutely at home.

What are you planning with respect to the transformer cover - I imagine something creative to fit in with the retro look.

What feedback resistor did you settle on for your 16ohm load? It's probably about the value I should be aiming for.
Aye, I'm well pleased with it. The missus found me a seven inch round cake tin that fits perfectly over the transformer. This will be sprayed up in either the same antique white to match the top plate or a contrasting pastel colour; haven't decided yet.
I'm using a 6K8 resistor for the feedback.

That's going to be really shoddy when you get the transformer cover on !

That would get my vote, maybe a pale mint green?

Too shiny, nickel plate would be more subtle. :)

Nice work Steve. 8)

Aren't I glad I not married. :D

There's a small collection of tools on the lounge carpet from when I assembled flat packs when I moved in here 3 years ago. :D

I daren't "put them away" in case I forget where I put 'em. So they're still there.

Certainly does.

And actually today I have done a tidy up, and moved the things into the spare room. So the floor is now clear.

Yes in the storage box that also contains other multimeters, scope probes, and my AF sig gen, I thought that was an intelligent choice. :D

The big screwdrivers have gone in the box with my socket set, torx drivers spanner sets and wot-not. Ditto, same "family".

You've got to have a system ... as Harry Hill has advised us, on numerous occasions.

The insides:

Not a pretty sight, but as I said earlier, there is no hum.

I sprayed up the cake tin transformer cover, but it causes mechanical noise in the toroid; probably down to the tin's steel construction. I'll either have to think of something else or leave it with the TX exposed.

When I had my WAD KaT88, I transferred the mains toroidal to the top of the chassis and used a cover made from a cut down aluminium saucepan. Worked a treat with no noise at all. Is that IPL HU1 white sheathed hook up wire?

Cheers Greg,
I'll look in the charity shops for a suitable pan.
