Yes, I must admit I was a bit hasty judging them.

Your welcome to connect up to my speakers Ray, my latest designs are closer to 100db than the 103 db i brought last year, but will still fill the room at moderate levels with 1.5 watts i would think,
I brought a cossor 2P based amp a few years ago and that was ok in the room..thats only a 1/2 watt difference
Cheers..
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Well these OTLs have been running for a day on a wide variety of music apart from heavy metal and Mahleresque classical.
1.5W aint gonna cut it on metal and Mahler 8; not on my speakers anyhow.
They haven't blown up or caught fire, so I can say I've broken the curse of the OTL.
I've also fallen in love with single-ended 300Bs sans output transformers. They sound like no 300B I've ever heard

Now there's a thought, thanks Steve. Owston is still a way off but I'll work on the assumption that I'll bring my 300B SE-OTLs along; it'll give anyone who is unable to beat a path to Steve's door a taste of what they're missing.

Uncle Ray is very pleased that you're enjoying them so much Steve, what they do is special isn't it.Cressy Snr wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2017 7:54 pmI've also fallen in love with single-ended 300Bs sans output transformers. They sound like no 300B I've ever heard
For me your positive comments are a kind of relief too as often the only comment I receive when I mention them refers to the price of eight 300Bs just to get 1.5 watts. Any takers on your offer yet?

Yes the amps do something not many others do. A real "Windolene" of an amp

The 300B OTL is now packed away and bubble wrapped, ready for the customer to collect.
A unique amplifier and I'm glad I got to hear what it does.

If Uncle Ray can bring his OTL with him, then that's a great excuse to come along to Owston.

Have just reassembled the OTL ready for tomorrow.
I figured that the guy would want to hear it working before taking it away
(well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)
Listening to it again, I can be happy that I've now brought the EL34 PP monoblocks up to a musical standard that is close to these amps.
But.....the musical communication these things possess remains stubbornly spot-on.
I've found, by tweaking the Barbariks, that good EL34 push-pull pair's tone can be made remarkably similar to 300B tone, when the EL34s are operated as pentodes with plate-to-grid feedback.
Can't deny however that this Rozenblit 300B OTL is bloody good.

One satisfied customer off home with the amps and a ruddy great grin.

Had a lovely email from the customer earlier this evening.
He is over the moon with the way these amps sound with his 105dB/W horns. "Unbelievable clarity and detail and so musical" was one of the comments.
A job well done then.

Rozenblit isn't everyone's cup of tea but he does produce some very good kits. All three of his SE-OTL kits (original SE-OTL, MiniBeast and 300B SE-OTL) are fantastic amplifiers.
