My aural memory is dodgy, but I'd say this is as good as the best I've ever heard at home. I need more time and music before making any more comments.
ooooh I'm so tempted to say ' I told you so' that I will.

go back 10 years and read all the ribbing I took for promoting those silly old mosfets........snigger :D

Thanks Ed. :)

I did like the sound of Nicks prototype at Owston, but that was push pull.

These are single ended with schade feedback.

Not entirely sure how to take that Ant....

you make it sound like 3 people tried it, disliked it, and passed it on....... :D

but I'm glad you like it........when you're at a lose end I recommend you try the F6, it too is a corker..

then there are all the semisouth options(JFets rool ko) and then the SITs and then the hockey pucks.....I feel I just don't have enough time left to fit any valves in anymore... :D

but seriously, I don't mind what the amp is(within reason) these days, as long as it shakes hands amicably with whatever speakers are used then it usually brings a smile to my face.

The amount of money I've spent p*ssing about with valves over the last ten years would have bought me a Naim Statement.   slight exaggeration, but you get the picture. :D

I've just bought a Pass Pearl II phono amp off someone on AOS. It will be interesting to compare it with my kit valve amp.

Would the fan work better if it were positioned to blow air vertically across the fins of the heat-sink? I presume it would be difficult to position it that way.

Your success has just about convinced me to build a pair myself. By chance I was in the SFO area when the Burning Amp 2015 was being held and went along. So I got to hear Nelson describe this amp. Again by chance I will be near Worcester in June and if it is allowable, I will try to come to Owston to listen to your amp.

You would be very welcome ray, just ensure I know a couple of days [at least] before hand ... either post on the thread or pm me
I need to get the numbers right this year as I will be charged regardless
Thanks
The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

Another listening session has started.

My World Designs Pre3 has developed a crackle on one channel, It's happened before and it comes and goes which is annoying. My Audionote copy pre is also not healthy, putting two new valves in cured it for a while but it's gone funny again.

I might have to knock up a pre amp before Owston. :(

Bang a pot in a box and just make a passive as a backup
Do you need the extra gain from the active?
