I'm intrigued by the plastic pots, "M4 nuts", "PCB pins"

:D

I used to buy my Heinz baked beans in "snackpots" cos they are an ideal portion for 1 person.

And the containers are ideal for small things like M4 nuts and PCB pins. :)

Are there two heat-sinks with an amp per heat-sink and fan, or is the photo showing just one amp?

Each monoblock is one PSU and one heatsink/circuit board.

I'm halfway through the second PSU.

Initial plan was to have each monoblock on it's own base, but I ran out of space and they would have been too heavy.

The 2nd unit has now been tested, and apart from re-routing a couple of wires there were no problems.

I had set the bias to 4.7v before fully connecting things up and that needed a tweek to get the target voltage to (as near as poss) 28V.

I think the target V is 28v (Nick said aim for 30V) because the two 0.2R resistors drop approx 1V each.

There still are a few finishing touches to do before I try them in the system, but it won't be long. :D

I am impressed that this has gone so according to plan. :thumbright:

A triumph of planning and forethought?

Not necessarily Mike. :)

I'm merely following a circuit diagram given to the diy community by Nelson Pass, so I can't take any credit for it. You and Nick have both given me advice, which has been most helpful.

If all goes well on the stereo test the Owston fest will be the arbiter of it's success.

Some time ago I asked if this amplifier is likely to leave the listener of SET amps missing that special something. That singer in the room impression.
Is it still too soon at assess? Maybe it's other qualities will more than make up for any loss of valve loveliness.

By the way, I think this is one of my favourite threads. Funny thing is, it's down to what it's missing :D

If things go well time wise, I might be able to listen to the stereo pair tomorrow (Saturday).

They are single ended with schade feedback, so I'm hoping for good things.

When they are laid out on the floor I'll try and remember to take some photos.

After a few days of inactivity, I've finally got a stereo pair in operation. :D

First up is a bit of Vivaldi Four Seasons on CD.

My aural memory is dodgy, but I'd say this is as good as the best I've ever heard at home. I need more time and music before making any more comments.
