For what it's worth the GK71 triode curves show better than GM70. But might be a tall order to beat copper. Materials aren't displayed on curves, yet they affect sound.
Bang for Buck GK71 is a steal.

Oh waily waily ( as Ed would say ) -
I'm building a speaker system that doesn't need (copper) GM70's !
Thanks for the listening info Simon - very nice. Good effort and well done for supporting the Ukranian economy .

Had a nice evening yesterday at Simon's place, along with Paul.
I haven't heard the GM70 breadboard since Steve S place a while ago and I must say it kicks some serious booty
Excellent sound on a wide variety of material, including a lovely session towards the end with some vinyl.
The vinyl session was so good, it has rekindled my intrerest in thoe meduim and has made me seriously consider a balanced phono stage.

Yes Simon's GM70 amp is a high peak in the mountain range of SE amps above the clouds.

This I shall watch with great interest...SteveTheShadow wrote: The vinyl session was so good, it has rekindled my intrerest in thoe meduim and has made me seriously consider a balanced phono stage.
The world looks so different after learning science. For example, trees are made of air, primarily. When they are burned, they go back to air, and in their flaming heat is released the flaming heat of the Sun which was bound in to convert air into tree.

borrow my lenco, and phono stick those sowter phase splitting transformers in a box to plug in after the phono and give it a try. i havent used the lenco since i took it to owston last so im not going to miss it. remember that passive pre i built with the sowter phase splitters worked perfectly well into the amp

Let's hope it works out. Ultimately a balanced phono.

Bringing it back on target SE GM70.
Just bidding on a pair coming up quite soon. (Item no.111711820625) [Can't see how to find a share link on ebay these days! Is it cause I use Safari? not yet fully conversant with Apple ways? or eBay being a pratt as usual?]
Somewhere at the lockup there is a pair.
So: do we have a transformer phase split push pull gm70 in the mix one of these days? Just has to be tried.
And of course a traditional SE GM70.
Well I have John Caswells Sowter PP transformers which should stretch to the job, and my Tribute 212 transformers for the SE version.
There I go again full of plans and never lift a finger these days! Anyway it's a pipe dream.
