#1 Cathode follower buffer

Post by karatestu »

Hello.

I am interested in learning how to build one of these with 6H6P Russian valves to stick on the end of a CDP which has a voltage out dac and output stage bypassed.

I wonder if there is any guidance that can be given as to where to learn about such circuits. I read the lampizator site which is where I got the idea but I am new to the world of tubes - I know next to bugger all about them.

Thanks for any advice (including leave well alone)

Stu

I would start with Morgan Jones

Is there any DC on the output you want to put the buffer stage on?

Thanks Nick and Gregg.

When i bypassed the anologue stage i kept a pair of 10uf coupling caps (one each channel) and added 100K to ground. So i guess that will have taken care of any DC ?

I am ok with power supplies as i have done a few (SS) but the actual tube circuit is what i am a complete beginner with. Its a whole new world

I will check out that book, thanks. Stu

It's a very good book, and Morgan Jones is a great fellow. He came to two of our "Owston" events on his motorcycle.

He gave me a signed copy of the latest book, only thing it's a Chinese print version.

He sounds like a top fella.

That's a very kind offer Ant, thank you. Is there any content in there about general electronics or is it all about valve circuits ? Thing is, I am not sure the book will be any use to me after I have done a cathode follower buffer (I take it the book covers that) as to be quite honest I have enough on with my solid state mess to keep me going a number of years.

But who knows. I may get the valve bug. If i pay postage both ways Ant, i guess that will come to quite a lot as its a big book. Maybe i should buy it . Oh i dont know, decisions decisions.

I've got an unused fourth edition which I'll let you have half price plus postage, same deal as the Doug Self. I'm pretty sure I won't be needing it.
