#1 Triangular speaker cabinets.
I asked in another thread (a few days ago) about a 3 - way speaker, but Richard won't help.
Anyway, I had a few thoughts about such a thing using what I had to hand, like a 12" Pioneer driver and a 4" Fostex (FE126 or FE127) and possibly a tweeter.
Is there any mileage in a triangular shaped cabinet ? Wide end for the 12" and pointy end for the tweeter.
I'm not going to risk gloop on the Fostex, as they have a value on the secondhand market, and anyway the FE126 are enabled, so already treated.

So you're reducing baffle area as driver size decreases? Sure, that's one of the reasons for the multi-faceted shape Avalon et al use.

Don't know. Just nice to do something a little different.
I certainly won't be glooping drivers or using steel plate.

Nothing wrong with doing something different .
on a point of pedantry :
gloop
/ɡluːp/
noun
informal
noun: gloop
sloppy or sticky semi-fluid matter, typically something unpleasant.
glooping drivers , not sure you can do that , the term is of course doping.

Being an individual, I can (of course) choose to use whatever word suits me.
And gloop, or glooping does suit me. You still knew what I meant.
Doping is adding gloop, so what's your problem ?

glooping drivers is a nonsensical term. The end .
And Wittgenstein wrote numerous books on language games and why you cannot actually use any word you like .

this is the kind of argument(not debate imo) that I remember from the playground, serves no purpose but to partition and annoy...it was usually accompanied with 'ner ner ner'Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2017 9:08 am glooping drivers is a nonsensical term. The end .

is it audio related?

Of course it Audio related Mr Ed , it is an analysis of the correct term to use when applying material to audio drivers with the intention of doping them .
And unfortunately if posts were restricted to audio talk , I fear pre65 would be silent for most of the time
I would question why you feel suitably qualified to remonstrate others on the contents of their posts and why you feel the forum content should be restricted to things you like ?

Right. Should yield slightly more benign diffraction characteristics (assuming a direct radiator. Less significant with a waveguide loaded unit).Or possibly something like this ?

This would appear to be wrong on so many levels.....I don't feel qualified, suitably or otherwise to remonstrate at anybody, I fail to see how you could assume such......Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Thu Apr 20, 2017 9:29 am

Please explain how you think that I feel content should be restricted to things I like....
A couple more questions about things that don't quite make sense.....inferring that Pre65 doesn't post audio related content is drawing attention to the amount of audio content that you post yourself, is it not? Can I ask what percentage of your posts are audio related?
you posted earlier ' on a point of pedantry' I seem to remember some time back helping you out on a number of occasions on another forum by inserting grammar and punctuation so that other members could understand your meaning.....now that was silly of me....but you still thanked me for it....
I find it amusing that the poster of some of the worst syntax and grammatical errors would raise a point on pedantry.....
just saying
ps observation or remonstration?
