I might try my common mode chokes as a first step. they were on 26 pre but were taken off before it got sorted (well, as sorted as it is  ). Will use the GM70 driver (12GN7) as the guinea pig. Is there an "optimum" position for the CMC ? ie is nearer the valve better than nearer the ...

6.3V AC heaters.

A random thought came into my bonce tonight !

Probably totally el stupido but it was about using a small 1-1 transformer between the 6.3V AC source and the valve.

Could it possibly have any benefit ? (noise wise)

How many really celebrate Christmas as a "religious" festival ? These days I'd probably side with Tony, but any excuse at "bon accord" (and no,I don't mean the football team who lost 36-0 to Arbroath in 1885  ) or "peace and goodwill" with those we know,or even th...

The 210V HT was after the last cap and before the "choke substitution resistor" !

So how does one calculate that ?

At the moment my max HT is 210V and I'm running the anode at 154V and somewhere between 5 - 6 ma.

Suppose I could run it at less HT though.
