Re: Nothing In Particular

Bouncing along on the back of a camel, out of Wadhi Rum we crossed the Damascus to Aqaaba railway. The guide called from over his shoulder that this railway wasn't built when Lawrence... I've seen the film and read the book - what sense is there! ? The Hejaz railway was supposed to go from Damascus...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Thesiger was also big from the Hindu Kush to Sikkhim or so the travellers' tales tell. He was indeed. In Eric Newby's "A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush", Thesiger has a cameo role where he recounts to Newby how he's just operated on a local with an infected eye, enucleating him with a penkn...

OT: Analog Devices completes purchase of Linear Technology

http://www.analog.com/en/landing-pages/001/adi-linear-combine/index.html I can't believe that they'd ever kill LTspice - it's so widely used by the EE community (10s if not 100s of 1000s of users), it'd be a lunatic thing to do. More likely, it'll be expanded to include TI products - Mike Engelhard...

Yes, I read it via the link! Who's a clever boy then! Most folk don't think of that :) As it happens, the PC-based s/w that comes with it is also not bad. Not great, you understand, but functional and stable, i.e. good overall. Really a nice bit of kit - started life as a reference design joint eff...

Re: Nothing In Particular

As I'm having to build a table-top-workshop here from scratch (can't denude my workshop back in the UK), I've been trying out some of the nice USB-based tools you can now get. Just received an Analog Discovery 2 unit http://store.digilentinc.com/analog-discovery-2-100msps-usb-oscilloscope-logic-anal...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Spent yesterday in the Somme visiting the Vimy Ridge Canadian memorial and, more specifically, to pay our respects as a family at the Crucifix Corner cemetery at Villers-Bretonneux, where my wife's great uncle, Sydney Clifford Lamplugh, died aged just 19 one hundred years ago today. He was in the RF...
