Re: SLOB project

Wolfgang, there's a lot of technical stuff (that I've only skimmed through) in the thread you linked to, along with, perhaps, an element of 'willy-waving', so like the initial poster, I don't have an understaning of the 'science' but I think Nelson Pass's last paragraph in post #16; In any case, the...

Re: SLOB project

I was wondering if some OB experts could shed more light on what the guy says in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LMe-ypUVu In my understanding the bass is the main benefit from OBs but then again it would need to come from bass drivers ("open source" OB?)that don't operate kin...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

I got a 25mile ride in this afternoon. Played it safe and stuck to the same route as yesterday as I knew the road was dry and ice free - even ventured out on my 'best bike' sans mudguards. It's was just an out and back ride and I went a little further but chickened out when I got to a tiny place cal...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Pfffttttt.... I thought the AT-Cycling Team were made of tougher stuff! :) Everyday I'm mashing the pedals that grueling 1.6miles in each direction. 'cept for Monday nights mahoosive inner tube blow out, ooooopps, my fault, I'd over inflated the rear 27x 1 1/4 tyre/tube and it let go while parked u...

Re: The Audio-Talk Cycling thread.

Icy again this morning - too dangerous to head out yet.

Yesterday morning was the same, really scary black ice made me turn round after about a mile. I managed to get a ride in during the afternoon when it warmed up but I still stayed away from the shady, damp lanes.

Re: Lii Audio Speakers

Without accurate dimensions, it's a bit difficult assessing the box, but curved sides apart it appears to be akin to a classic bass reflex alignment (closest to, say, an Ultraflex or Onken). The curve to the rear will provide some of the desired length for the ducting... I've been asked if I would ...

Re: SLOB project

Thanks gents. The reason I've been thinking about it is based on my assumption that the Lii unit will crossover fairly low down (<200Hz?) so will be producing some upper bass itself.

Re: SLOB project

Following Nick's revelation that he's also bought some Lii FAST-10S drivers with plans to use them in a Quasar type OB project (coupled with his new Supravox 285s) It seems pertinent to raise a question that I've been mulling over for a few weeks. Should I extent the 'wings' of the SLOB design verti...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?

Might have to have all 24mins of 'Suppers Ready' as one of my three Owston tracks! :flower: I have the sudden urge to miss Owston this year... :) Ha, 'Firth of Fifth' too, should turn the screw nicely. Apart from being a great live collection of the music of 'classic' Genesis (mostly with Peter Gab...

I've neglected this one for a couple of years at least, now reminded what an excellent album it is;

not sure if I'm a member, or even if I qualify for membership, but I'd be interested if Mark isn't..... You've got a bike haven't you Ed, so you must be a member. PM me your address and I'll sort out sending it to you. I'll need to remove the mounts so it'll be the weekend. In the meantime you'll f...
