Right! I spent a while, earlier this evening, strapping out the dropper resistors in the AC wiring from the 9V filament transformers. This, as predicted, switched on the regulation in the DIYHS filament supply modules and killed the hum dead. I also spent a while fudging the 5K James output transfor...

After hearing Steve's PX25 valves in my amp, I'm afraid I have found the amp hard to live with with TJs in. Having heard what the amp is capable of given the right output tubes has left me a broken man :( With Steve's valves in there the amp took on a new life, mid and treble to die for and all the ...

OK a bit further on now Here is a proposed HT regulated supply for one of the pairs of DCC90s; this courtesy of a National Semiconductor application paper (I'm not clever enough to do my own, or that inclined to reinvent the wheel :)) Four of these will supply 140V, 120V, 80V and up to 160V for the ...

Hi Mike OK the filaments take 220mA each so with four transformer windings available that's 220mA per winding for the DHTs. no dropper resistors then off the same HT source? As I inferred, I'm unsure as to whether to use dropper resistors like I am doing in the present PSU or to go for separate supp...

Could you make the 1.5v from the 3v? Use a low voltage adjustable shunt perhaps? As they're for separate DHT's I've got a horrible feeling they also all need to be electrically separate, so separate transformer windings as well :?: Unless Steve knows differently :D Why do you think I used batteries...

What about a 6N1P at the front? -- Andrew Well I set about taking your advice Andrew but I found myself inexplicably out of B9 sockets. I had loads of octals so the only thing I could try was a 6SN7 as a front end gain stage. I lashed one up on a cover from an old PC power supply and tried it out b...

Cheers chaps. Now I can understand Mike's little JFET amp and how it would fit in with the rest of the DHT phono. I am however having a little difficulty with Nick's one that uses the cathode for input how does it fit in with the battery filament supplies below? and the grid leak bias scheme used. h...

Well after having reinstalled the phono stage after Simon had given it back. It still sounds as good as it did. Welcome back to the contrary little bugger. :) The biggest fly in the ointment with it, excluding the microphonics is insufficient gain, so that the volume has to be turned up almost full ...
