You can't avoid it Phil, the best you can do is to try and delay it.

Re: Mike Head, aka' little eddy'

Can I also point out Ray that for all we know the idea of bike riding as you mentioned in the letter may also be a upsetting topic for his family as they may regard that as contributory factor. Nick, I know. Mike's cycling isn't an issue for the family, in fact it's been mentioned positively a numb...

Re: The Owston that never was..

Great news about landing the job Dave and hopefully something longer-term will fall into place in the meantime.

Re: Mike Head, aka' little eddy'

Can I respectfully suggest that this thread is not the place for these posts. We have lost a frend and this should be about him, not us.

Re: 6C33C SE-OTL Project

I've been working on my second room heater project this morning - hooked up a couple of 120W Mean Well SMPS and powered up a pair of 6C33C filaments. I was actually a bit disappointed that I only measured a temperature of 126deg C - I was expecting higher based on the reputation of the 6C33C but the...

Give me passive cooling everyday, it's simple, it works, it's silent and there's nothing to go wrong.

I just wondered if YOU had settled on a particular way to go in that direction.

If not, don't worry.
No, not got that far with thinking about it.

Re: Another MoFo

I saw your post on the DIY Audio MoFo thread,,, You should keep R6 as it gives an easy way to measure your standing current - Ohms law again, handy little beggar! If you omit it you must put a link in its place otherwise your MoFo will not be connected to the power supply. Regarding the MOTs, these ...

Re: Another MoFo

If on the other hand you're asking about the sizing of the heatsinks, you need to be more specific as the amount of heat to be dissipated will depend on your power supply voltage and what standing current you'll be using. If you read Michael Rothacher's original document he tells you his recommendat...

Re: Mike Head, aka' little eddy'

I have been in touch with Gwenda, Mike's wife and passed on our condolences. I was going to send her a link to this thread so she could see how well regarded Mike was here but on reflection I decided not too as I thought some of the posts might be upsetting for her. Instead I cut and pasted excerpts...
