Did you try using smaller caps after Owston Steve ? Not yet Richard. I haven't got round to it yet as I've been trying to improve the digital front-end of the system after Sunday 20th November at Owston, by building a linear regulated PSU for the Squeeze Box. I suppose it's a sign of how good these...

Quite!

My Apple Airport Extreme router transmits on two bands - 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

I now have ferrites on the heater leads :)
Duly scoped, it is stable once more.

Wonder what set it off again... can't have been just the wi-fi surely.
The other monoblock was unaffected, though now it has had ferrites put on its heater leads too. Valve tolerances maybe?

Here is the Squeezebox PSU as it is now.

Yep That's exactly what the Metronome is...a mass loaded Voigt pipe with a quadratic taper :)

Prob solved by changing the wi-fi channel. OK its only a workaround at the moment, but hopefully I'l achieve a permanent solution by reducing the current through the valve. This should reduce the susceptibility to RF. As long as it doesn't affect the sound quality in a negative way that's the obviou...

Nice work ! Be good to see if the difference is audible ! But they are great valves for the money in any case. Steve, I might need your advice on using the ferrites, asap , as I appear to be getting RF problems on one of my channels now I've fitted C3g's on my amp . Also, did you specify the grid-s...

Well bugger me if it wasn't the wi-fi that was causing the problems. The new one was transmitting on channel 1 in the 2.4GHz band. I switched it to the highest channel (13) and problem vanished. I also have higher wireless signal strength to my squeezebox now, 80% rather than the 60% it was before. ...

Didn't Steve C have the 108 in a Met so should be OK?

Yep I did have a single 108EZ. That was my first Metronome.
Not much bass power though so I had to use subs and use a network to keep the bass out of the 108s

However a bipole will probably be much better in that department.

Hi Mark

Re RF I'm having a bit of trouble myself in that department at the moment.

I'll get back to this thread as soon as I've sorted it. One of the amps has been playing up since I got a new Wi-Fi router.
Watch this space.

Sounds similar to the RF problems Steve had, grid stoppers and ferrite I think. Yeah one of my monos set off again last night. I think I'm going to have to reduce the current flowing through the pentodes. Turn the volume past half way on one of the amps and there is the tell-tale rustle of the volu...

Well that's fair enough Ray, if you only want the StreamBox for the streaming interface. If you are going to do your own hyper version of the Musical Fidelity additions to the Stream 700 then you couldn't have picked a better interface. It is certainly better in terms of user friendliness and displa...

I'm planning on buying a Pro-ject Stream Box DS in the new year. This will stream 24/192 data and output it on its SPDIF coax socket. The Stream Box has an onboard DAC but my thinking is to disable this, unless it proves to better the RAKK of course, and just use the box for streaming. Streaming wi...
