Re: Latest 300b valves

Px4 and px25 are my favourites, but I have a pair of stc 4300a, which sound better than most 300b that they have been pitched against

Re: Nothing In Particular

Thanks Steve, there are a few things there and I think you have some misconceptions. I'm no expert on fires, my knwledge is what I learned when I had fire marshall and building incident manager responsibilities. My understanding is that the oxygen is part of the fuel, it is mixed in quantities that...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Picked this up from the net.. How hot do lithium battery fires burn? 3632 degrees Fahrenheit Fire ignition establishes that the cathode of the battery can catch fire. The burning lithium creates a metal fire existing at temperatures of 2,000 degrees Celsius/3632 degrees Fahrenheit. Attempting to dou...

Re: Nothing In Particular

I think Phil's answered your miss understanding of my point ray, Yes, but Oxygen isn't the fuel. But my confusion was about the battery 'magic'. Sorry Ray, I'll try and explain myself better My understanding is that the oxygen is part of the fuel, it is mixed in quantities that will then ignite. I ...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Thats the thing with internal combustion engines, they only carry part of the fuel needed, the other part comes from the atmosphere. I am not a chemist, but I think that's true for battery fires as well, The energy to get it going may come from the chemical energy stored in the battery that wants t...

Re: Nothing In Particular

My understanding is with batteries there's no triangle just the battery... It must be magic then? Very nearly ray.. but worth looking up. Thats the thing with internal combustion engines, they only carry part of the fuel needed, the other part comes from the atmosphere. There's quite an issue in Ch...

As would anything else that consitutes 'fuel' in the traditional 'Heat/Oxygen/Fuel' triangle.

Re: DIY Transistor Amp Using NVA Boards

I think my preference in presentation is similar to your preference, but I'm not sure damping is the deciding factor in quality. There is a level of self damping in drivers that seems preferable to me. Self damping and acceleration tend to go hand in hand. My preference is that type of driver, one t...
