Only Ones

Thanks to the opening scene of 'Paul' ( Simon Pegg/Nick Frost film about an alien ) I discovered this band and this ace track . I'm amazed I've never come across this before ( from 1978 ) -

Enjoy !

Good effort Dave - 'respect due' as Stouffer would say ! Brooks saddle - classic kit . I always found they were uncomfortable at the start each time but get more comfortable the longer you ride. Must get one again , been faffing about with various saddles in recent years . Happy New Year everyone :D...

I'm a big fan of pentode drivers so would suggest trying the C3g in pentode mode into 45 if you have time. You can avoid a cathode by-pass cap on the driver , because there'll be plenty of gain ; so you get rid of two bass time constants - that from the by-pass cap, and also from the interstage . Ju...

You can hear a slight 'grain' or dirt in the upper mids and treble with the X7R ones, compared to the C0G's which are clean and smooth .

Haven't you got a big bagful of mixed LED's upstairs ? Am I the only one who doesn't need to buy-in stuff specially ? :D I have no idea what the voltage rating means ( maybe the tolerance to reverse voltage ? ) Just buy some ordinary small green LEDs . Maybe Nick or Andrew can post .... but they don...

I don't think it's too important how big the LED is. The voltage drop is closely associated with the colour ( the energy/frequency of the photons coming out is set by the voltage drop across the device ) . Reds drop the least, blue or violet LEDs drop more voltage than the greens . The power rating ...

I think the green LED's are mostly the same voltage drop . Have you got any ?
Picture of finished board .... I really need a digital camera that can go up closer than the one I have ... unless i can find a Leica close-up lens I used to have upstairs in a drawer ... Bear with me ... tomorrow ?

In my opinion battery bias firms-up the low bass ( by taking out a time constant ) but the rest of the sound goes to hell . I'm sure there will be a few people offering the opposite opinion soon :D

I'm now making a list of the components needed to populate the boards to Marks specification for GK-71 use. The three "special" resistors (Rx, Ry & Rs) are known. When fitting Rx & Ry which hole does the RH leg go in, The big one just outside the printed box ? The lower legs ;o) (...

Goldring 1006 for sale

I wondered where this had got to .... rediscovered in drawer this evening ! For sale MM Goldring 1006 cartridge , boxed, barely used . This is the one with eliptical stylus profile. I bought it a while back to compare against Denon 103R but still preferred the Denon ... but the Goldring is a nice we...

Definitely worth trying Lynn- could be a very cool combo if you can match the curved perspex baffle to the lower box front as per the drawings you showed in e-mail . Definitely go for the best you can get on cores if you get the special autoformers. I felt that 50% nickel lost a bit of tone & tr...

There's a lot of good 'atmospherics' happening at the moment. This afternoon driving back to N.Wales the shower clouds and colours were very impressive.
