Re: Speaker cables
There is some solid, measureable science about better USB cables coz regular ones mix power and signal without screening. I'm a cable sceptic in that fancy/expensive hasn't necessarily turned out the better for me. Doesn't mean mine are the stuff that comes with a budget DVD player either. I've got ...

Re: Speaker cables
A bit OT, but I had a Topping D90 to try with my Pi streamer. I usually use a hi-fi berry hat dac. The D90 was very odd sounding, weird timing, disconnected sound. I couldn't get into the sound at all. Even plonked SWIMBO down for a listen and she described similar without any priming. Then got the ...

Re: Very simple streaming
Tidal is way better quality than Spotify. It also has a great catalogue and surprisingly good for classical. I just wish it had better organisation for favourite albums.

Re: Another go at PP -> IT -> PP
I worry about what would happen if the bias supply failed. I probably should put some fuses in somewhere. In the cathode returns to earth? Just normal fast-blow glass fuses? I had that happen. Took out the HT tx and the choke. Somehow the OPT survived. I put fuses in the HT supply for the Tx rating...

These last couple of months I've had a colonoscopy polypectomy, prostate biopsy and a hernia repair but hey, that's nothing compared to a hemorrhagic stroke of the basil ganglia so I'm told

Re: General health matters.
One of my proud parenting moments was when I failed to check young adult human was properly clear of car and I ran over, slightly, her sandalled foot. Took her big toe nail clean off. I have no idea why she didn't make more of a fuss as it must have bloody hurt. Luckily it all grew back fine. I can ...

I reckon you'll spend more time figuring out how to clone than doing a fresh install coz the ssd is so fast.

After decades of avoidance, I've decided to tackle the tupperware box of resistors and sort them into 10 drawers. By measurement of course coz don't want to go blind reading colour codes or make mistakes. 1 and 2% resistor colour codes are hard work. I'd hate to think how many there are but just foc...

From older dentists I know, it was a thing to fill teeth to prevent cavities. I know! Crazy from today's perspective. Most of my peers, have all back teeth filled. The excuse for mine was I had deep fissures. No cavities. We had a dental block in the primary school grounds and when the note came rou...
