Top notch !
Re: EnABL
I haven't got any Suzanne Vega to use Chris :D but I admit I'm a bit confused about the whole thing. Just got back from an exhausting 2-day trip to NPL (Teddington) with work, so will comment more in next couple of days, thanks for replying. I haven't given up on this entirely, I think cone treatmen...

Re: Something for the TV sir ? ( FE103E )
Only partially successful as far as I can tell. Back with the Enabl-ed FE103E's for the moment.
Meanwhile I spotted this one - perhaps something for the future ( bit bigger than the 103's/105's to be fair )

Re: EnABL
Didn't go the whole hog with the cut-cones in the end. Decided to Enabl the second speaker, plus put some of the 'Zig 2-way glue' on the back of the cones near the edge, as developed by Dave D on the FF..WK range. I did the outer dots easier than last time - the No. 2 pen was working well ; however ...

Re: Ooh, what's this ?
I think if the amp is 'fast' and has good bass tone then Diamond Dogs shows well in palces - I reckon there's three or four good tracks on there including the title track. Meanwhile I've swapped-in a pair of Bud Purvine PP step-downs in place of the Sowters - Nick dug them out for me. It's a tough c...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?
I didn't want to risk the 250v variety (HT is 300v). where's your spirit of adventure ? - I've been using 250v rated signal caps in my phono for the last 10 years ! I really like what they do with the bass and mids, detailed and rich, but the treble seems a little too quiet. I suspect you've...

You're really the Sposemeister today Andrew !
What's the Charlie Parker album/collection then ? - I have a two or three LP's in the racks.

As David Byrne said "singing is a trick to get people to listen to music for longer than they ordinarily would" .

Re: Something for the TV sir ? ( FE103E )
Bought a pair of FF105WK for these, by the way . I'm not sure they're any better out of the box ( rather sharp 7kHz peak ) , but I've been working on them as suggested by Dave Dlugos , putting 'Zig 2-way glue' around the edge of the back of the cone, just where it meets the surround and about 5-10mm...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth
First two fins are very good - successful job. Dense, and quite dead when tapped, so non-resonant . More rigid than the ABS ones for sure. Will need to do some fettling work to tidy up the top edge, but might cast another two today or tomorrow. Colour is a sort of shitty brown, so I might get some b...

Re: What Are You Listening To Right This Minute?
Flippin Small Hours - what a track - only a genius could make something like that. Are those caps 250v or 630v rated, Thomas ? I think the 630's will take longer to run-in than the 250's, especially if you have eg. 120v on them from the first valve. I tend to run the lowest voltage rating I can get ...

Re: Something stirs in the Undergrowth
First go at casting here. Polyurethane resin and bronze powder, mix is 33% 'A', 33% B, 33% bronze powder by volume. I thought the working time was 20mins, but luckily while stirring the combined mix I noticed 2.5 mins on the back of one of the bottles  After that I got the mixture poured into...

Re: Grid chokes.
Probably still a good option on a power valve, but you'd better have them shielded as that's a sensitive area . A1 operation only as Paul says - which shouldn't be too big a deal for a GK-71 as you can get a good few watts out of those in A1 at eg. 800V .

Re: SB Acoustics 3-way - Troels
Don't let me stop you :D - a well-done three-way is a very good thing indeed. Vocals are never really ideal on 2-ways. How about if I screw with your head and suggest an alternative - that a FF165WK or a FF225Wk used as a wide-band mid driver could be coupled with a bass and tweeter at maybe 200Hz a...
